Welcome to the Small Groups and Workstations PD page. Below you will find links to each of the six modules as well as a recommended study guide for each. We also have included a roadmap that indicates our recommended path through these trainings. Follow the map or chart your own course, selecting only the modules that serve your needs. These trainings can be done individually, by groups of teachers together or as a PLC.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT—This module looks at a wide variety of tools and strategies teachers can implement in their classrooms. While some are most helpful to beginning teachers or those who struggle with management issues, other ideas will assist even very experienced, veteran educators.

THE FIRST 21 DAYS—This module sets forth a day-by-day explicit and systematic process for establishing the rules and procedures for successful implementation of small group instruction in the elementary classroom setting.

USING DATA—This module discusses various types of data available and what each type of data assesses. It also uses a series of student vignettes—looking at student strengths and weaknesses, using that data to plan small group instruction.

ADDING ACCOUNTABILITY—This module discusses a wide variety of different types of accountability that teachers can build into independent workstation activities. The goal is to make students accountable for completing work without increasing the workload for teachers.
