We also have included a roadmap that indicates our recommended path through these trainings. Follow the map or chart your own course, selecting only the modules that serve your needs. These trainings can be done individually, by groups of teachers together, or as a PLC

WORD STUDY Part 1—This module focuses on how students read complex, multi-syllabic words. It examines three aspects of word study for upper elementary: regular orthographic patterns, the “Six Syllable Types” and syllable division.

SPELLING—This module focuses on the five major principles of successful spelling in English, which can explain the spelling of about 96% of words in English.

FLUENCY—Fluency is the bridge between foundational skills and comprehension. Fluency is much more than rate. Fluency is also the ability to read with expression, automaticity, appropriate intonation and phrasing.

VOCABULARY—This module looks at how best to select vocabulary words for in-depth instruction and models an effective way to teach students key vocabulary. It also discusses how to work with words with multiple meanings.
